More Space

Servicing the Hubble Space Telescope: Space Shuttle Atlantis – 2009 follows the final Shuttle servicing mission from the press conference announcement through crew training and vehicle launch preparation. On-orbit photography taken by the astronauts during five spacewalks is featured along with Altantis' triumphant return to the Kennedy Space Center.
What is equally as compelling as the story and background are the superlative images that accompany this edition. Not only the ground shots of the Hubble and the Atlantis launch story, but several pages of images from the Hubble are included, in all their glory. They are truly stunning looks at our universe, both near and far and alone make the book one that is worth having.

The book does not try to be a comprehensive look at either the Shuttle or Hubble. Rather, it's a fairly detailed look at one shuttle mission. Most chapters are prefaced by a page or two of explanatory text, followed by lots of photos with detailed captions (the exceptions being the early sections outlining the program and equipment). The text is clear, concise and easy to follow - by know the authors have a number of books under their belt and they're good at this.
